Cyclist Injured - Tuesday 24th Of December, 2013, 10.25am
A cyclist has been injured following an RTC in Staffordshire this morning.
The crash occurred on the A513, near Alrewas, Staffordshire at around 8.20am. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire and also the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, “Crews arrived to find a car and a cyclist that had been in a serious collision. The cyclist had reportedly been unconscious for a short time after the crash but was conscious when medics arrived.
“The man, believed to be in his early 60’s, suffered a head injury in the crash. He received treatment at the scene, including pain relief and also immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar.
“Once the man’s condition was stabilised, he was airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire for further emergency treatment.
“The driver of the car, a woman in her 30’s, was checked over at the scene for the effects of shock, but did not require further treatment.”
