West Midlands Ambulance Service received a 999 call to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a van on the Tyburn Road near Happy Days Nursery at around 2.15pm (Thursday). Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance crews arrived they found a pedestrian, an elderly woman, being given excellent first aid by members of the public.
“The woman had sustained life-threatening injuries and required advanced trauma care on scene by the doctor and ambulance team before being taken, on blue lights, to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency care.
