MOTORCYCLIST THROWN 20 METRES IN CRASH Thursday 23rd July 2015 – 8.20pm.
A motorcyclist has been thrown around twenty metres following a crash in Staffordshire this evening.
The crash occurred at the junction of Church Road and Clays Lane, Branston, Burton on Trent at around 6.15pm. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Stafford attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a car and a motorcycle that had been in a significant collision. The motorcyclist was found around twenty metres from where the crash occurred and was unconscious on the road.
“The man, believed to be in his late 20’s, had suffered head and pelvic injuries. He received emergency treatment at the scene from medics and then regained consciousness after a short time.
“Emergency treatment continued at the scene and the patient’s condition was stabilised. He was then airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency treatment. The hospital had been alerted to his arrival and his injuries.
“A pillion passenger, a man also believed to be in his late 20’s, was lucky to escape the crash with just neck pains. He also received treatment from ambulance crews before being transferred by land ambulance to Queens Hospital Burton for further treatment.
“The woman driving the car, believed to be in her mid 20’s, was treated for minor burns on her hands from the airbag discharging and also the effects of shock. The woman did not require further treatment at hospital.”
