PEDESTRIAN INJURED IN WALSALL Monday 22nd June 2015 – 12.05pm.
A pedestrian has been serious injured following a road traffic incident in Walsall this morning
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Bescot Road at the junction of Wallows Lane, shortly after 9.30am.
An ambulance together with a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle; a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It was reported that a woman in her twenties had suffered serious injuries after apparently being struck by a steel girder carried by a lorry.
“The patient was treated for a serious head injury. She was anesthetised by a doctor from the air ambulance and immobilised with the use of a neck collar and orthopaedic stretcher before being taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham by land ambulance.
“The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the patient.”
