What to do in an emergency
From a road accident to a blocked airway, how exactly do you summon help in an emergency? It can take more than eight minutes for the Ambulance Service to arrive on scene, so a simple procedure such as giving as much information as possible to the emergency services could make the difference between life and death.
It is important to remember that an Air Ambulance cannot be called directly to attend an incident by a member of the public. All 999 emergency calls requiring an Ambulance are received by the local Ambulance Service Control Centres. It is the decision of the Control Manager, based on information received, to deploy an Air Ambulance.
