500 bikers revved across the Midlands on Sunday (25th July) as part of a massed charity ride out in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance.
The motorcyclists covered 150 miles of the best biking road networks in Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands and raised an impressive £4,500 through donations.
‘Bike 4 Life’ was led out by Tom Fanning, Chief Executive of M6 Toll operator Midland Expressway, Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef and the West Midlands Ambulance Service motorcycle paramedics.
Principle organiser of the event and Midlands Air Ambulance Grants and Legacies Fundraising Manager John Brown was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident two years ago but completed the ride out on a specially adapted EFI Clubman, styled on the classic Royal Enfield.
John Brown says: “On behalf of everyone at Midlands Air Ambulance I would like to thank all of the 500 volunteer bikers for their tremendous response and for helping to make Bike 4 Life such a memorable day. It proved a great way to celebrate the relationship between Midlands Air Ambulance and motorcyclists in the region whilst also raising funds for the charity. I am over the moon to say that our first ever Bike 4 Life was a truly successful event and I’m sure that next year it will be even bigger and better!”
