Midlands Air Ambulance took delivery of a cheque for £600 in memory of a young motorcyclist tragically killed in a road accident.
Borja Gimenez, 23, died in October more than 24 hours after an accident at Ellastone, near Uttoxeter.
Following his death friends and colleagues gathered at the Denstone Tavern pub for a wake and staged a collection which, coupled with donations made by colleagues at JCB, raised £600 for The Midlands Air Ambulance, which attended the scene of his accident.
The cheque was handed over to Helen Hitchman, the Midlands’ Air Ambulance Area Fundraising Manager by his friend Crispin Turner. Crispin said: “Borja’s family and friends are especially grateful for the efforts of the air ambulance at the scene of the accident and raising the money was the least we could do to say thanks.”
Helen Hitchman said: “Every pound raised plays a significant part in keeping the Midlands Air Ambulance flying and we are extremely grateful for the £600 raised in Borja’s memory.”
Borja, who died in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, worked at JCB Utility Products in Cheadle.
