Every Penny Helps: National Air Ambulance Week 2016

From Monday 19th to Sunday 25th September 2016, 20 air ambulance charities from across the UK will come together to celebrate National Air Ambulance Week. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is once again proud to be taking part in the awareness week, and will this year focus on the funds generated from collection tins located across the Midlands.

The charity’s red collection tins raise on average £39 per tin per year, a collective of £350,000, which funds the fuel for the charity’s three air ambulance helicopters for an entire year. Just three years ago the red collection tins raised on average £24 per tin, presenting an increase of 62 per cent.

Jason Levy, fundraising and marketing director for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, explains: “Midlands Air Ambulance Charity receives no Government or National Lottery funding, so every penny donated really does make a difference to our lifesaving service.

“We would encourage our supporters to pop their spare change in one of our collection tins when they see one, and if you’re a business, give us a call and we can provide you with a tin to help you support the charity.”

National Air Ambulance Week is an initiative created by the Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) and celebrates the work of local air ambulance charities, giving them a national voice and an opportunity to promote the work they do at a local level.

Together, the UK’s air ambulance charities raise £120 million a year, operate 37 helicopters, have a volunteer network of over 2,500 people and are one of the most exciting and innovative group of organisations in the UK.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity relies solely on donations from the general public to generate the £7 million needed to operate each year.
