Glittering Evening Raises Over £100,000 For Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

Forty-two further life saving air ambulance missions are now possible as £105,011 was raised at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s recent Recognition Awards and Charity Ball.

Sponsored by a number of corporate partners including Platinum Sponsor, Concept Resourcing, and held at the stunning setting of Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, the record breaking six figure sum was raised thanks to the generosity of the 500 guests who attended the black tie event.

The night also celebrated and recognised the hard work and dedication of a number of individuals and businesses who have gone above and beyond to support the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Among the famous faces who attended were Rustie Lee, rugby star Thinus Delport MBE, boxer Joe Egan, Olympic hockey player Jane Sixsmith MBE, Paralympic athlete Mickey Bushell MBE, TV presenters Nina Hossain and Michael Collie, race horse trainer Michael Scudamore, plus Ed James who kindly compered the event.

The glittering evening started with a drinks reception and the arrival of one of the charity’s red helicopters, which landed on Edgbaston Stadium’s famous pitch. Guests were then treated to a four course dinner, followed by a live auction, prestigious raffle, live entertainment, casino and after show party.

Hanna Sebright, chief executive of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Our Recognition Awards and Charity Ball is always a truly inspiring evening as we thank some very special people for their incredible commitment to our charity.

“Not only did the night bring tears and laughter, but we also raised our largest ever total, for which we are extremely grateful. As each air ambulance mission costs the charity £2,500, the £105,011 raised will fund 42 additional life saving missions flown by our aircrew – it doesn’t get much better than that.”

During the evening, the Recognition Awards highlighted some of the great work of the charity’s supporters, staff and patients in raising awareness and in giving so generously to the largest air ambulance charity in the country.
