The Worcestershire Thrift Shop

Loyal villagers from a Worcestershire community have been supporting the Air Ambulance since it first took to the sky.

The Village Hall at Pensax near Tenbury Wells is a regular stopping off point for many locals on a Wednesday, where a wide variety of home grown food produce and second hand goods are bought and sold.

The principle organiser for the past thirty years is local resident Nerys Didlick, who has kept the community ‘Thrift Shop’ going as a popular attraction and essential service in the area.

Speaking about the continuing success of the Thrift Shop, Nerys said:

“The Thrift shop was originally started by some twenty volunteers to help finance our village hall. It became so popular that we decided to encourage a charitable donation and over sixteen years later we are still making a presentation every year to our local Air Ambulance”.

Nerys estimates that the Charity has benefited to the tune of over £16,000, thanks to the generosity of local villagers who fundraise for the helicopter service every Wednesday.
