How it all began On 21st May 1991, the Charity formally launched 'Air 5' at Hagley Hall in Worcestershire. The new air service was one of the first in the UK and operated five days a week from Halfpenny Green Airport near Wolverhampton. In October of that year, the aircraft relocated to new facilities at RAF Cosford in Shropshire.
Our identity ‘Air 5’ was eventually renamed ‘County Air Ambulance’ in March 1993, in recognition of the eleven counties of the England and Wales served by the Charity.
