Worcestershire Garden Centre’s Blooming Display For Charity

Monday 20th February 2017

Laylocks Garden Centre in Worcestershire has raised £1,866 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, from a Santa’s Grotto at Christmas, and the sale of sunflowers grown in the fields.

Laylocks has supported Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for over five years with its Santa’s Grotto’s, but the team decided to grow its efforts by planting a field of sunflower seeds to raise further funds for the charity in their 25th anniversary year in 2016.

Once grown, each sunflower was sold to the public for just £1, and Cliff Wood who has worked at the garden centre for 30 years, visited the charity’s Strensham airbase, to present the donation to the aircrew.

Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity says: “Laylocks have been fantastic supporters of the charity since 2011, and their field of sunflowers was a really lovely sight, which raised vital funds for our air ambulance operations.”

Laylocks have re-seeded their fields with sunflowers seeds, in order to continue to raise funds for the charity in 2017.
