1000 Mile fundraisers keep Air Ambulance flyi

Five West Bromwich fundraisers have donated £500 to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity after completing a sponsored cycle-ride from John O’Groats to Lands End.

Martin Jones, Roger Bailey, Nigel Parkes, David Turton and Stephen Haughton all grew up and went to school together in West Bromwich in the 1970’s.

More than thirty years after leaving Churchfields High School the old buddies reunited to undertake the 1000 mile cycle marathon which they completed in just twelve days.

“This is a life’s ambition and I can’t believe we’ve now actually done it!” says team leader Martin Jones whose partner, Maria Jones, works for the Midlands Air Ambulance. “It’s great to know the money we’ve raised will help keep Midlands Air Ambulance flying and saving lives across the region.”

The ambitious cycle-ride took them through Loch Ness and down the entire length of West England to Lands End where they received a rapturous welcome from family and friends.

Midlands Air Ambulance would like to congratulate the team on their fantastic achievement.
