93 year old to climb Snowdon

Age is no barrier for one fit fundraiser!

He may be 93 years old but that isn’t stopping Allen Birch walking up Mount Snowdon this weekend (6th July) to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Charity walks are a favourite hobby for the great grandad and this is his 6th walk in six years. After fundraising for many local charities over the last few years, he has now decided to climb the 3500ft mountain for the public funded emergency service because of the vital work they do in his local area.

He does not see his age as a remarkable part of what he does - he simply considers it a hobby, having done so many charity walks recently and he keeps fit by often walking 14 miles on a weekend in the Wyre Forest.

He said: "I have already raised a total of £16,000 over the years, so I want to keep going and hopefully raise at least £2,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance from this walk".

He expects to reach the summit in a mere 3 hours, matching last year’s time – a very impressive feat which will help fund critical life saving missions across the Midlands.
