Drayton Manor Theme Park Joins G-Forces With MAAC

Drayton Manor Theme Park has today (14th August) launched its charity collaboration with the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC), helping to raise funds for the regional response team.

As part of the partnership, Drayton Manor Theme Park will donate one penny to the charity for everyone who rides G-Force*, which will help to keep its three ambulance aircraft in operation. The Staffordshire based theme park has also rebranded its G-Force rollercoaster, the official ride partner of the charity.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity ambassador, Dr (Hon) Lee Pearson OBE CME MBE, the ten times Paralympic Gold Dressage Medallist, attended the launch, alongside members of the MAAC aircrew and the official mascot, Maac. Lee is particularly indebted to the work of Midlands Air Ambulance, following a very serious fall from a horse at his rural Staffordshire home. He was airlifted by the service and like many others in the Equestrian world owes a huge debt of gratitude to the charity and its lifesaving work.

The MAAC is one of the region’s most treasured charities, providing first class life saving care to patients across six counties in the Midlands, including Staffordshire, the West Midlands, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. The largest air ambulance region operating region in the UK, the MAAC has responded to over 40,000 calls since 1991, and relies purely on donations from local businesses and the general public.

Colin Bryan, CEO and Group Managing Director of Drayton Manor Theme Park said: “The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is a fantastic cause that is at the heart of saving lives across the region. Here at Drayton Manor, we are always looking for ways to give back to the local community, and it fills us with immense pride to be able to help fund the vital work that the MAAC do.”

Jason Levy, fundraising and marketing director for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “Drayton Manor Theme Park is one of the most popular destinations in the Midlands, so we are delighted the park chose to partner with us. We look forward to working with the theme park to help raise awareness of our life saving work, and look forward to saving even more lives with the help of the extra funding.”
