Happy 20th Anniversary!

Saturday 21st May 2011 marked the 20th anniversary of Midlands Air Ambulance and the Charity was certainly in the mood for celebrating!

The rapid response Charity held its first ever fundraising ball in honour of the occasion, joined by 250 business people, volunteers, fundraisers, ex-airlift patients and crew members at the Sixways Stadium in Worcester, home of the newly promoted Worcester Warriors.

Not ones to let an opportunity pass them by, the fundraising team led a raffle, auction and ‘head and tails’ game to help raise more than £8,000. They even sold the birthday cake for a very tasty £150!

Stars of the show were two of the Midlands Air Ambulance helicopters which landed pitch side at the stadium delighting audiences with the crew’s impressive skill.

Smiles were glued onto guest’s faces throughout the evening thanks to compere and comedian Ian Richards and musicians Gabrielle Aplin, who is currently number 14 in the ITunes chart, and The Jack Hyde Band who got everyone onto the dance floor in no time.

It was an evening packed full of fundraising, dancing and even a proposal (thankfully she said yes!) which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and a great way to celebrate 20 years of life-saving work by Midlands Air Ambulance.

So for everyone who has ever put a single penny into the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity collection tins and for all of you who have held a coffee morning or climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in aid of the Charity we would like to say a very heartfelt thank you!

It is because of you that we were able to celebrate 20 years of life-saving service this weekend and it is with your help that we will continue to go on and save countless more lives across the Midlands.

Missions completed since 1991: 50,563 | On average we airlift a child every four days | Road traffic collisions make up around 35% of the incidents we attend | The service airlifts on average four horse riders each week.
