National award for fundraising brewer!

Shropshire based Wood Brewery scooped a national award this week in recognition of the company’s fundraising efforts for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Edward Wood, MD, received the small brewing industry’s 2010 award for Best Business Sponsorship following his sponsored bike ride from Lands End to John O’Groats in May this year.

The 1,000 mile bike ride marked the brewery’s 30th and Edwards’s 60th birthdays, raising an impressive £12,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Money was also raised through the sale of a specially brewed 30-60 challenge beer.

Receiving the award Edward said “We’ve been donating money to local charities through special beers for many years so it’s recognition for all the staff at the brewery who work on these beers. The extra effort of the bike ride boosted the total to a significantly larger amount that anything we have done previously and of course we’re delighted.”

Midlands Air Ambulance thinks this is a fantastic achievement and would like to congratulate Edward and all the staff at Wood Brewery. Well done!
