The Midlands Air Ambulance aircrew located his isolated estate cottage and landed to treat him for his life threatening injuries, before airlifting him to hospital.
Speaking about the events of that day in 2003, Dennis said:
”I have no idea how I survived. I remember being semi-conscious on the aircraft and I murmured to the flight crew that I was ‘B positive’ With the noise of the helicopter the crew misheard me and said ‘Yes that’s right, be positive’. After the third attempt I finally managed to convince them my blood group was B positive”.
“I can remember everyone on board laughing and I suddenly felt so much better”.
Dennis has since recovered from his injuries and still lives and works on the country estate where the accident happened near Bridgnorth. The circular saw has been removed to another part of the property!
