Steve Mitchell

Steve ‘Mitch’ Mitchell I joined the Ambulance Service in 1995 as a cadet and after 10 years as a Paramedic I was honoured to be selected for Midlands Air Ambulance. 3 years on and I’m privileged to be part of a team that so benefits the outcome of the patient. It’s intense due to the nature of the situations we attend, but it’s exciting and the fulfilment of a personal ambition. Away from work my interests include hill and mountain walking and I’m a keen cook (keen, not necessarily good!). With this opportunity, I would like to highlight the hard work done by fundraisers, those who donate and also the land-based crews on scene; together we make a real difference to the people we attend.

Missions completed since 1991: 50,563 | On average we airlift a child every four days | Road traffic collisions make up around 35% of the incidents we attend | The service airlifts on average four horse riders each week.
