A man has died and two others men have been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision involving three HGVs and a car, in Butterton, this morning.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the M6 northbound between junctions 15 and 16 and sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival a man, the driver of the car, was found in a critical condition. Sadly, it quickly became apparent, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A second man, a driver of a HGV, was found in a serious condition, he received specialist trauma care before being conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital under emergency driving conditions.
“A third man, also a driver of a HGV, was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
“A fourth man, a HGV driver, was assessed, however sustained no injuries and was discharged at the scene.”
