West Bromwich native ‘Blind’ Dave Heeley is described as “a charity fundraiser, motivational speaker and marathon man extraordinaire.” He remains “the only blind man to have ever completed seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.” Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at age ten and losing his sight as a teenager, he has nonetheless “raised over £500,000 for various charities and has completed numerous challenges,” dedicating himself to motivating both able-bodied and disabled individuals.
