Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is making a final call for supporters to become part of its High Flyers initiative, with just 400 spaces remaining on its new H145 air ambulance helicopter tribute.
The initiative offers people the opportunity to have their name, or the name of their loved one, displayed on the underside of the charity’s newest aircraft, registered G-HMAA, while directly supporting its lifesaving work across the Midlands.
A total of 1,200 names have already secured their place on the aircraft, leaving just one of the four iconic chevrons available for supporters who want to become part of the charity’s history.
Launched in February 2025 alongside the arrival of the charity’s state-of-the-art H145 helicopter, the High Flyers campaign gives supporters the chance to have their name, a loved one’s name, a family name, community group, or even a beloved pet’s name featured on the aircraft for a minimum donation of £150.
Supporters have chosen to dedicate names in celebration of loved ones, to honour cherished memories and to show their support for the charity’s vital emergency service.
Every donation helps fund Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency care service, enabling its highly skilled critical care team to deliver hospital-level treatment at the scene of incidents across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.
The distinctive chevrons will be visible as the helicopter flies across the charity’s six-county operating region, serving as a powerful symbol of the community support that keeps the service responding to patients in their critical hour of need.
Those joining High Flyers receive a personalised certificate featuring their chosen name, along with a limited-edition commemorative coin presented in a special keepsake card.
Emma Wood, Associate Director of Income Generation at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “The response to our High Flyers initiative has been incredible. Reaching the point where three of the four chevrons are now full demonstrates the remarkable support we receive from our communities.
“Every name added represents a personal connection to our charity while helping to ensure our crews can continue providing lifesaving care to those who need us most. With just 400 spaces remaining, we’re encouraging people to secure their place on the helicopter before this unique tribute is complete.”
Among those who have already secured their place on the aircraft is Kate from Gloucester, who dedicated a name in memory of her grandparents, Peter and Mary Tanner.
Kate said: “Just over 25 years ago, the air ambulance was there for my grandad when he needed it most. My Nan went on to raise thousands for the charity that was there for them in their hour of need. Sadly, she recently passed away, and we raised over £700 in her memory. We thought it was beautiful to have her and my grandad’s name appear on the air ambulance whilst it goes on to support others in their time of need.”
Supporters wishing to become a High Flyer can submit their chosen name online or by contacting the charity’s supporter care team on 0800 8 40 20 40. They can also be made by cheque, accompanied by the chosen name and payee’s contact details including postal address and email or phone number, and sent to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Airbase Avenue, Neachley Lane, Shifnal, Shropshire, TF11 8UR.
