Families, supporters, and aviation enthusiasts are invited to discover the people, aircraft and expertise behind Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s lifesaving work at its annual Cosford Airbase Open Day on Sunday 30th August 2026.

Taking place from 10am to 4pm at the charity’s Cosford airbase and charity headquarters at Airbase Avenue, Neachley, Shifnal, TF11 8UR, the free event gives visitors the rare opportunity to visit a working air ambulance base, meet the crews, and see how the charity responds when every second counts.

Visitors will have the chance to see the charity’s helicopters and critical care cars, meet the pilots, doctors, and critical care paramedics, and gain a unique insight into the pre-hospital specialist care delivered to patients across the Midlands every day.

There will also be plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Children can explore the charity’s interactive demonstration helicopter pod, while visitors of all ages can watch emergency response demonstrations showing how aircrew prepare for missions. Guests can also browse merchandise and artisan stalls from local businesses, and enjoy a selection of food and refreshments throughout the day.

Karen Baker, associate clinical operations director at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Our Cosford Airbase Open Day is the perfect way to round off the summer holidays. It offers first time visitors and long-time supporters the unique opportunity to visit our base, meet the teams behind our lifesaving missions and discover the work that goes into providing pre-hospital emergency care for patients across the Midlands every day.

Entry and parking are free, and there is no need to pre-book.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has been serving communities across the region for 35 years and has responded to more than 80,000 missions since 1991. As an independent charity, it receives no Government funding for its daily operations and relies on the generosity of local people, businesses, and communities to keep its helicopters and critical care cars responding to patients.
