Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is bringing its established education and training offer together under The MAAC Academy, the new name for its education and training provision.
Built on the real-world clinical and operational experience of the charity’s frontline teams, The MAAC Academy provides practical, relevant education grounded in the realities of emergency response and patient care.
Its offer spans first aid for members of the public through to advanced clinical and specialist development for healthcare professionals, alongside bespoke training solutions. The academy also provides a hub for knowledge sharing, research, innovation and collaboration across healthcare and emergency services.
Emily Browne, associate director of education at The MAAC Academy, said: “We know that the best education is rooted in real-world experience, and that is one of the key strengths of The MAAC Academy. Our education team draws on the knowledge and expertise of clinicians who deliver advanced pre-hospital emergency care every day, translating that experience into practical, relevant learning that can be applied in the real world.
“Education isn’t just about transferring knowledge. We want it to challenge thinking, encourage collaboration and ultimately contribute to better patient care. That is particularly important in emergency care, where clinical practice, technology and the needs of patients are constantly evolving.

The MAAC Academy was unveiled at The Emergency Services Show at Birmingham’s NEC on 16th and 17th September 2026, alongside a programme of clinical and operational sessions delivered by the charity’s clinical team.
Emily Browne and critical care paramedic Tom Waters presented on the future of air ambulance fleet provision, while critical care paramedic Ryan Ferris explored high-performance CPR and physiology-guided resuscitation, showcasing the clinical and operational expertise informing the charity’s approach to education.
As Midlands Air Ambulance Charity marks its 35th anniversary, The MAAC Academy looks to the future by building on more than three decades of specialist knowledge and experience.
By sharing this expertise through accessible, high-quality education and training, the academy aims to improve preparedness, support better decision-making and contribute to safer communities across the region and beyond.
