Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Celebrates Milestone as First High Flyers Chevron Is Filled

Thursday 31st July 2025

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is celebrating a major milestone in its High Flyers initiative, with the first of four iconic chevrons on its new H145 air ambulance helicopter now fully filled.

Since launching the initiative earlier this year, supporters of the lifesaving service have been given the unique opportunity to have their name or that of a loved one printed on the charity’s newest aircraft. With 400 names making up each chevron, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is thanking everyone who has supported the campaign so far.

Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has chosen to be a part of the High Flyers initiative. Every name represents someone who supports our lifesaving missions and believes in the work we do, serving as a constant reminder of the lives and communities we are here to serve.

“Filling the first chevron is a significant moment for us, and with three more to go, we hope this milestone encourages even more people to get involved. To date, supporters have chosen names to celebrate significant birthdays, weddings, the births of grandchildren as well as paying lasting tributes to loved ones no longer here. We are also aware of community groups across the counties who are fundraising to have the name of their group included.”

The High Flyers initiative not only offers a lasting tribute or celebration for supporters but also helps fund the charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency care. Each name can be submitted to be added to the helicopter for a minimum donation of £150, with all proceeds helping Midlands Air Ambulance Charity continue its vital work across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire. The chevrons will be visible in the sky across these operational areas, symbolising the community spirit and generosity that fuels those lifesaving missions.

With space for 1,600 names in total, there are still three more chevrons to fill. Supporters are encouraged to secure their place in history and help keep the charity’s helicopters in the sky. Once all 1,600 spaces have been allocated, the chevrons will be fitted with the names and those who have taken part will get the opportunity to view the names via an online portal, and at future charity events.
