Shelsley Walsh Summer Events Raise over £2600 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

Friday 29th August 2025

The historic Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb’s summer programme, featuring two Nostalgia events alongside the annual Bike Bonanza, has raised an impressive £2,663 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Across the season, thousands of visitors flocked to the famous 1,000-yard course in the Worcestershire countryside to enjoy a mix of competitive runs, demonstration rides, and classic displays.

The Bike Bonanza brought spectacular motorcycle racing to one of the world’s oldest motorsport venues, while Classic Nostalgia delivered a celebration of motorsport heritage with Group A, B and World Rally Cars, NASCARs, and historic Formula One machinery thrilling the crowds.

A special charity ride-in during the Bike Bonanza allowed motorcycling fans the rare chance to ride the iconic hill themselves, with a donation going directly to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Among the standout machines was the legendary Texaco Heron Suzuki RG500, famously raced by motorcycling legend Barry Sheene.

The combined fundraising total highlights the generosity of participants and spectators alike, and cements Shelsley Walsh’s reputation not only as a historic motorsport venue but also as a hub of community spirit and charitable support.

Event organiser Rebecca Leppard said: “Bike Bonanza was an absolute success and was met with a fantastic, roaring atmosphere. Over fifty bikers took part in this year’s inaugural charity ride-in, raising vital funds for an incredible charity that provides critical care to the Worcestershire community. The charity ride-in will now become an annual highlight of the event. Bike Bonanza is set to return on Saturday 4 July 2026.”

Diane Thomas, Worcestershire fundraising executive at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb has supported our charity for a number of years, raising vital funds to support our life saving missions. We are truly grateful for their continued support.”

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity attends an average of two biker-related missions each week. In response, the charity now offers its First Biker On Scene course to help equip motorcyclists with life-saving skills at the scene of an incident.
