A man has been seriously injured after a road traffic collision involving a HGV this afternoon in Stafford.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received several 999 calls to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a HGV on the northbound carriageway of the A34, Yarlet, Stafford at 12.29pm today (Tuesday 24th March). An off-duty WMAS paramedic came across the incident and stopped to provide aid to the pedestrian. An ambulance and a Midlands Air Ambulance helicopter with a doctor and critical care paramedic on board responded to the incident.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man, had sustained serious injuries in the collision and was quickly given trauma care by the team of medics. Once the man’s condition was stabilised, he was conveyed on blue lights by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital. The aircrew medics travelled in the ambulance to continue advanced trauma care enroute to A&E.”
