Date and time: Dec 06, 11:00 AM, 2018

A woman and a child have been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Birmingham this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called by the police to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Lichfield Road in Aston shortly before 11.00am this morning (Thursday).  Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance charity attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When crews arrived they found a woman who had sustained serious injuries. The team worked quickly to administer trauma care at the scene before the woman was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to a major trauma centre for further emergency care.

“A child, in a pushchair, was also involved in the collision with the car and was assessed by ambulance staff on scene. Whilst they found no apparent injuries, ambulance staff conveyed the child to hospital as a precaution for further checks.”
