Dr Neil Abeysinghe is an intensive care and anaesthesia consultant at University Hospital Birmingham. He has been flying with Midlands Air Ambulance since 2007, as one of the original team of doctors, and is currently part of the senior governance team. He has been involved in the delivery of pre hospital care within the West Midlands for nearly two decades as a volunteer BASICS doctor, MERIT trauma consultant, and part of a tier of 5 senior doctors as a Medical Incident Advisor in the event of a major incident. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham and has particular interests in neurotrauma, burns and medical education.
