Barratt Homes West Midlands has announced it has raised more than £89,000 for its charity of the year for 2023, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
The housebuilder, based in Halesowen, continued its fundraising for the emergency service charity and, through a variety of activities and fund-matching from The Barratt Foundation, has donated a grand total of £89,249.80.
The commitment of employees at Barratt Homes towards helping the fundraising of lifesaving missions has resulted in the charity unveiling a sponsored helicopter, celebrating numerous years of fundraising by the leading developer.
Having committed to fundraising for its charity of the year until 2025, the total contributed has now surpassed a milestone of £260,000 in five years. This has helped to fund more than 170 vital missions, reaching and treating the region’s most critically ill and injured.
Jon Cottrell, senior partnerships executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Thank you to everyone at Barratt Homes West Midlands for the immense support over the years, which has helped fund dozens of lifesaving missions allowing us to reach and treat those in critical need in the region. Having the company logo on our Cosford air ambulance helicopter is a fitting gesture of our gratitude for the commitment the company has made to our cause.”
Barratt Homes’ employees took part in a wide range of fundraising activities throughout the year, including collections at developments, a raffle, a sponsored ‘jail or bail’, a golf day, a tuck shop, and a gala evening.
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity covers six Midlands counties, including the West Midlands. The pre-hospital emergency service is responsible for the operation and provision of three air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars. Since its beginnings in 1991, the charity has responded to nearly 75,000 missions, and 296 of those were in January 2024 alone.
It requires £13-14 million per year to maintain its three helicopters, three critical care cars and three rapid response vehicles, as well as the enhanced lifesaving equipment and medication available on board.
Adrian Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to round off another year of fantastic fundraising for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and donate more than £89,000.
“Our colleagues can proudly say they’ve raised above and beyond last year’s total by more than £27,000, which is an incredible achievement.
“The charity deserves the highest recognition for its contribution towards lifesaving missions across the West Midlands and we’re looking forward to taking this partnership even further.”
