You are invited to enjoy a takeaway at Marlpool Diner in Kidderminster, on Tuesday 21st March 2017, and help to raise funds for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
Oli Runu, the owner of Marlpool Diner, was airlifted by Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in June 2015, after suffering a heart attack at his home, and now wants to give something back to the charity.
Oli explains: “I had arrived home from picking my children up from school. I felt tightness in my chest area plus a burning sensation. As time passed my condition deteriorated, so my wife called 999. Soon the paramedics arrived and diagnosed that I was having a heart attack. Due to the seriousness of my condition, the Midlands Air Ambulance was called from its Strensham airbase.
“On arrival at the hospital, I was diagnosed with a blockage in one of the main arteries. Doctors said that a delay of another 20 minutes could have done major damage to my heart or been fatal. The Midlands Air Ambulance saved my life by saving time, which is why I wanted to give something back.”
Marlpool Diner which serves a wide variety of food including; burgers, chicken, Indian food, kebabs, and pizza, will donate its profits from the evening to the charity. The takeaway hosted an event for the charity in 2016, raised over £900 for the charity which covers six counties across the Midlands, including Worcestershire.
Michelle McCracken, regional fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in Worcestershire, adds: “Each Midlands Air Ambulance Charity mission costs on average £2,500, so the funds raised by Oli and his team at Marlpool Diner will help to fund a future lifesaving air ambulance mission.”
