Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Accredited With Quality Standard

Friday 6th April 2018

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has been accredited with the Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations (PQASSO) quality mark level 2, after a review of the organisation was undertaken in November 2017.

The charity’s Board was recognised as being ‘active and experienced’, and directors ‘enthusiastic’. Team working was noted as being embedded throughout the organisation in systems, procedures and practices.

The PQASSO report also saw effective charity governance, communication and systems in place throughout the organisation, to record activities and monitor financial activities. After interviewing staff and volunteers, high morale was reported throughout the organisation.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s corporate partner, Phoenix Group, assisted with the charity’s application by analysing questionnaires sent internally, facilitating workshops to formulate opinions of staff and conducting interviews.

Angela Watkins, director of business support for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We’re all so pleased to have gained this highly sought-after recognition from PQASSO, and we’re very proud of how far our organisation has come over the past 27 years.

“We’re always looking to demonstrate our openness and transparency, and this accreditation is another opportunity for us to highlight this. We’d also like to give personal thanks to Phoenix Group for their help with the specifics of the application – it’s relationships like this that help us to operate as effectively as we do.”

James Taplin, life finance risk manager for Phoenix Group, said: “First and foremost it was always incredibly humbling to meet the team at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. They have an incredible passion for what they do and we always left really enthused by their energy. There is a real team spirit and can-do attitude at MAAC that we could all learn from

“The PQASSO accreditation is something that MAAC will be able to use and get value from for years to come, and it does leave you with a feeling of pride for contributing towards it.”
