Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Launches Public Vote To Pick Corporate Shortlist

Monday 10th June 2024

For the first time in all the years hosting its Recognition Awards and Charity Ball, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is asking the public to help pick the potential winner for its Corporate Partnership Award category.

Taking place on Friday 27th September 2024 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, and sponsored by EBC Group, the charity’s annual Recognition Awards and Charity Ball recognises the lifesaving aircrew as well as the volunteers, fundraisers, supporters and corporate partners who help make its daily missions possible.

Following an internal vote amongst its staff, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has confirmed a shortlist of nine corporate nominees, and it needs the public’s help to finalise this year’s Corporate Partnership Award nominees.

Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are incredibly lucky to be supported by some amazing corporate partners across the six counties we cover.

“Without our corporate partners and supporters, we would simply not be able to operate our lifesaving pre-hospital emergency service. We have decided to adopt a public voting format for this particular category to highlight the generous corporate support we receive, but also because picking one winner out of the nine amazing nominees is proving a difficult task.”

The nominees are ABE Ledbury, Aico, Cheltenham Racecourse, Hardy Signs, ISO Quality, Kelly Plant Hire, Lord Combustion Services, Pallet-Track and Wall James Chappell.

Gloucestershire Nominee:

Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucesteshire has been supporting the charity since 1998. In that time, it has raised £62,239 through various fundraising opportunities. For the last three years, the Racecourse has generously given the charity its own fundraising event, the end of season fixture, Hunter Chase. This relationship has helped the charity strengthen links with the racing and equestrian community and within Gloucestershire.

Herefordshire Nominee:

ABE Ledbury first supported the charity in 2017. In 2024, it got back on-board to show support by incorporating the charity’s branding in its trailer livery to showcase the charity across the country. The ABE team recently unveiled the trailer at the charity’s airbase and headquarters. It has continued to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity by supporting its 2024 Corporate Golf Day.

Shropshire Nominee:

Aico of Oswestry has been supporting the charity since 2017 and has raised more than £51,000. Members of the Aico team have also sponsored and taken part in the charity’s Jail or Bail event and its finance director, Matt Small, was a founding member of the charity’s Business Ambassadors’ scheme.

Staffordshire Nominee:

Hardy Signs of Burton-on-Trent has shown its support by gifting the signage used at the charity’s annual corporate golf day for the last three years, saving Midlands Air Ambulance Charity more than £11,000. In 2023, Hardy Signs celebrated its 30th anniversary and throughout the year it organised its own charity golf day in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity raising £2,215 on the day.

West Midlands Nominees:

On alternate nights, the car conveys vital blood supplies between the Blood Bank at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to the charity’s Strensham airbase on the Worcestershire / Gloucestershire border.

Pallet-Track of Wolverhampton has pledged to raise £75,000 during a three-year partnership. The company supports the charity’s golf day and annual ball, and its staff also volunteer at events. 52 Pallet-Track staff members took part in CPR and Bleed Control skills sessions provided by the charity. Pallet-Track also supported by organising its own events including a golf day, hub-to-hub cycle ride and charity casino. It has currently achieved £23,696 of its target.

Wall James Chappell solicitors from Stourbridge has been supporting the charity since 2003.
