Air Ambulance Open Day Prepares For Success

Friday 24th August 2018

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is hosting its annual Open Day at Strensham airbase on Sunday 16th September.

The free family fun day, which takes place at the Northbound Strensham Services on the M5 from 10am to 4pm, is a yearly hit attracting locals in the Worcestershire area and supporters of the charity, who have the opportunity to explore some of the charity’s fleet, see visiting helicopters, talk to aircrew and watch demonstrations of the lifesaving work undertaken on a daily basis.

Youngsters attending the event can enjoy the helipod, bouncy castle, craft stalls and the new air ambulance flying simulator will be a huge hit with all the family.

There will also be refreshments on sale throughout the day, along with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity souvenirs and clothing. Representatives from other emergency services will also be making an appearance.

A spokesperson for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “These events are always a huge success with our supporters, as it allows exclusive access to find out what life is like as an air ambulance paramedic, doctor and pilot. We’re always proud to demonstrate to the public how their donations are spent, and we hope everyone attending has a wonderful day finding out more about our lifesaving service.

“Almost 20 per cent of the missions undertaken last year were in the Worcestershire area, and were most commonly road traffic collisions, cardiac arrests and falls. Each one of our missions costs £2,500, so it’s vital that we have support from the public to save lives every day.”
