Race Day Was A Runaway Success

Monday 10th September 2018

Some of the biggest names in horseracing came together to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s inaugural behind the scenes race day at Ludlow Racecourse, raising £1,850 for the organisation.

Sponsored by TP Pools Services Ltd, guests were treated to a tour of Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer, Henry Daly’s, stables. Then followed an action-packed day of behind the scenes access at Ludlow Racecourse, plus lunch and a meet and greet with a professional jockey, Daryl Jacob, who most notably won the 2012 Grand National on the grey Neptune Collonges.

Abbie Hawkins, events coordinator at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We have a great affiliation with the horse riding community. They are fantastic supporters of our lifesaving air ambulances, but unfortunately, this is partly due to the fact that on average the aircrew airlifts a horse rider every four days.

“Our behind the scenes race day was a money can’t buy experience, and was thanks to Ludlow Racecourse, professional pundit Ryan Tongue, Jamie Moore who donated a pair of signed breaches, and the team at Henry Daly’s stables. The money raised on the day has enabled us to purchase five brand new and much-needed flight suits for the aircrew. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special.”

The following organisations also supported the day and with raffle prizes; Jailhouse Tours, Banks Brewery, The Wenlock Deli, Profitable Racing, The Kynnersley Arms, The Heath Hotel, Fishmore Hall, Fairy Artistic Bakery, Greggs, Apples and Roses children’s clothing and Sweet Cones.
