Sandwell Mayor Judges Charity ‘Mannequin Challenge’ Competition

Monday 16th October 2017

The Worshipful the Mayor of Sandwell, councillor Ahmadul Haque MBE, visited Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s shop in West Bromwich, to judge a mannequin dressing competition with students from Sandwell College.

Four fashion students from the college took on the ‘mannequin challenge’, which saw them compete to find the best outfit with donations from the charity shop. The Worshipful the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Ahmadul Haque MBE, chose the winner, Courtney Leahy, presenting her with the prize of a Nando’s voucher to use in the West Bromwich restaurant, and a gift set donated by Next.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Sandwell, councillor Ahmadul Haque MBE, explains: “The work of the air ambulance is so important, which is why I support them whenever I can.

“It was great to see students from the college taking part today, and it was very inspiring to see them create such lovely outfits with donations from the shop.”

Alison Hill, volunteers manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, adds: “As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our supporters, so we are truly grateful to Mr Mayor for helping to raise awareness of our important work.

“We would also like to thank Sandwell College, Next, Nando’s and Peacocks for supporting the event.”

The charity also held a tombola raffle in the store which raised over £100.
