Sikh Community Group Funds Four Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Missions

Tuesday 24th July 2018

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity recently received an incredibly generous donation of £10,000 from a group of supporters during their visit to the Strensham airbase.

Guru Nanak Nam Ladies Jatha Birmingham attended a talk at the charity’s Strensham airbase in Worcestershire in June to find out more about the lifesaving work the charity does on a daily basis.

They initially intended to donate the cost of one mission, which totals £2,500, however when they heard of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s clinical advances and its impact on the six counties it serves, they decided £10,000 would be a more fitting donation.

Nirmal Notay, a spokesperson for Guru Nanak Nam Ladies Jatha Birmingham, said: “We’re a group of 20 Sikh ladies who pray in our local community and raise money, which we then donate to various hospitals and research centres. When we visited Midlands Air Ambulance Charity we were so impressed by the work they do, and we felt this money was a fitting donation for such a worthwhile cause.”

Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “As we’re a charity that is solely funded by donations from the public and local businesses, I was especially proud to receive such a kind donation from this community group. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity attends up to 2,000 air ambulance missions each year, so I was very grateful that they saw it fitting to donate such a significant amount.”
