Sim & Skills, a leading provider of simulation-based training solutions for healthcare professionals, is celebrating the resounding success of its Sim Tech Live conference, which took place at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Cosford airbase and headquarters.
The event, which brought together leading technical professionals from across the NHS and the Higher Education sector, showcased innovative training solutions, and fostered collaborative discussions on the future of skills and simulation education training, and the role of the technical specialist.
The Sim Tech Live conference, held on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th August 2024 at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Cosford location, featured a series of engaging workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and networking sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the charity’s airbase, including its state-of-the-art clinical training facilities and meeting spaces. They also gained insights into the charity’s pre-hospital emergency service and how advanced simulation training is crucial to its daily lifesaving missions.
Nicola Cook, director of communications at Sim & Skills said: “We are thrilled with the success of the first-ever Sim Tech Live conference and with the positive feedback we’ve received from our attendees. Hosting the event at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Cosford airbase provided an inspiring setting that truly underscored the importance of our work. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients through innovative training and education.”
Emily Browne, head of training and education at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity added: “In addition to the educational opportunities, the conference also served as a platform for strengthening partnerships within the NHS and higher education communities. The event enabled us to showcase the critical role that skills and simulation training plays in preparing our enhanced care teams for real life emergencies.
“All of the attendees were simulation technicians whose vital roles support, guide and enhance the education of both undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare professionals. As a pre-hospital emergency service, it is essential that we engage with those working in educational settings where future nurses, doctors and critical care paramedics are currently training and practising the skills they need to care for patients as well as working closely with those already in practice and creating links to support, and collaborate on continuing education and training, beyond registration.”
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity operates across six Midlands counties providing rapid response care to critically ill and injured patients. The charity’s partnership with Sim & Skills underlines the importance of simulation training in enhancing the effectiveness of its lifesaving efforts.
Sim & Skills extends its gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for their contributions in making the Sim Tech Live conference a remarkable success. Both organisations look forward to future collaborations that will continue to advance the fields of medical simulation and emergency response.
