In the UK, there are 37 air ambulance helicopters operated by 21 individual air ambulance charities. When there is a major incident, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity can be called to provide what is termed “mutual aid” and join other air ambulances across the county to deliver lifesaving treatment at the scene. This happened last year, when the charity was called to support our partners in the North West at the shocking events that we will all remember that happened in Southport. It was there that our crew treated a critically ill young lady. Her story is one of positivity and courage. She is s a resilient and brave young lady who has set up a fundraising foundation to support the emergency services that helped save her.
Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, we are unable to share further details.
