Critical Missions in Herefordshire

Our team regularly responds to a wide range of emergency incidents across Herefordshire, delivering time-critical treatment when every second counts.

Cyclist Seriously Injured in Hereford: A woman sustained serious injuries in a collision involving a vehicle on Bath Street, Hereford. Our critical care car, alongside ambulance staff, provided advanced trauma care at the scene. She was initially taken to Hereford County Hospital before being transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further specialist treatment.

Six Injured in Hereford Road Traffic Collision: Six people were taken to hospital following a collision on the B4221 near Upton Bishop. Our team provided on-scene support alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service, ensuring patients received the urgent care they needed.

Family Survive RTC: A family of five was involved in a severe road traffic collision in Leominster. Multiple air ambulances, including two from MAAC, were dispatched. Our crews provided critical care at the scene and airlifted the seriously injured children to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Thanks to the swift response and advanced treatment, all family members survived the incident.

Our Operations Across Herefordshire

We work in close partnership with West Midlands Ambulance Service, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, and other local agencies to provide a joined-up emergency response.
In rural terrain, we may also work with Mountain Rescue teams when access is particularly difficult.
This collaboration helps ensure patients across Herefordshire receive fast, effective, and expert medical care when they need it most.

Emergency Access Across Herefordshire

Our helicopters are equipped to land in a wide variety of locations, allowing our team to deliver care quickly and effectively, wherever the incident occurs.
We regularly respond to emergencies in remote parts of the Golden Valley, the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and farmland across the county. In towns like Hereford, Ledbury and Leominster, our critical care cars provide rapid support when a land-based approach is more appropriate.

Hospitals We Frequently Transfer Patients To

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity often airlifts or escorts patients from Herefordshire to nearby specialist hospitals, depending on the nature of the emergency. These include:

  • Hereford County Hospital – Providing emergency care and the primary receiving centre within the county.
  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham – Major trauma centre for patients requiring complex, specialist treatment.
  • Southmead Hospital, Bristol – Frequently used for neurology and trauma cases, particularly from southern parts of the county.

These established links ensure that patients from Herefordshire receive the right level of care, as quickly as possible.
